The present paper aims to offer a different view than that provided by Dr. Federico Aznar in Discussion Paper 44/2013 of the Spanish Institute for Strategic Studies. Its sole purpose is to enrich the debate, an opened and continuous debate, unfortunately, that will not abandon us in the short and medium term. The authors of this article point out that global terrorism has not failed. Al Qaeda, as the most representative organization, has shown enormous resilience and adaptability to the environment. His defeat is remote. Existing conflicts, the evolution of the states who staged the so-called "Arab Spring" and some of the negative effects of globalization, which affect Al Qaeda but also our democratic states, pose new opportunities for the organization.
