Zimbabwe from yesterday to today: challenges and prospects for political and economic development (DIEEEO84-2015)

In this article, we offer an historical and political overview of Zimbabwe, taking as the departure point the process that ended in the independence of the former Southern Rhodesia, a British colony.
Currently Zimbabwe, a country located really close to the South African Republic, an African economic engine, it is living a difficult situation in the political arena. The octogenarian President, Robert Mugabe, maintains his tight power over the whole country. Meanwhile, opposition splits up, and the Zimbabwean society hesitates between the hope of change and the concern about an uncertain and tense future.
