Towards postmodern security and defense: elements for reflection on the European Security Strategy (DIEEEO125-2016)

The release in June 2016 of the new Global Strategy for the European Union´s Foreign and Security Policy (EUGS) is not intended just to be an update of the inventory of risks, threats and lines of action, but above all a wake-up call to address the flaws of the European project and to overcome the different visions that persist between European partners. This paper attempts to highlight some of the implications of the new Global Security Strategy for the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), as well as explore to what extent security and defence are beginning to be rediscovered as a new ground to relaunch the European project.
