Lebanon: a country at the crossroads (DIEEEO112-2017)

Since the adoption of UN Security Council resolution 1701 in August 2006, more than 10 years have passed and Lebanon remains a country plunged into political crisis. Always marked by the decisions and maneuvers of other countries with sectarian interests, it is not able to decide in freedom on its future.

The purpose of this document is to review the main vicissitudes of this Mediterranean country, which is increasingly longing for a future of peace and stability. But above all, it deserves to make its decisions in a sovereign way. Some voices believe that the electoral law must be revised and modified to stop being a difficult political system of balances and counterweights of the different confessions majority in the country.

It will also try to provide the keys to understanding why the country has not suffered a total contagion of the Syrian war, especially when it has been a long time with an interim government.
