The Iran-Al Qa’ida link: beyond sectarian division (DIEEEO75-2017)

The relationship between Iran and Al-Qa´ida represents, perhaps, one of the biggest inconsistencies, while one of the least understood nor clarified aspect until today. In spite of the fact that to length of more than one decade multiple reports have revealed a possible link between the Shiite Islamic Republic and the Sunni terrorist organization, it is still no clear evidence about the type of relationship that both support, since the theories about this vary widely.

This article aims to highlight the link Iran-Al-Qa´ida, based on the latest evidence in this regard, according to the premise that the unnatural character of their relationship has not been an obstacle in the mutual cooperation in pursuit of a common goal: confront the United States and Israel.
