The Tunisian revolution: a social perspective (DIEEEO02-2018)

The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the Tunisian revolution through a social perspective. The research is done by the analysis of different key moments of the country's history, especially the 2011 revolution. The Arabic nationalism had a great impact on the social situation and the changes on the Tunisian political aspect. The Islamism, both political and violent, is another ideology that has influenced the society through the time, especially in rural and more traditional areas. This movement has its reflection on the social gap between laics and Islamists, as well as on the breeding ground that feeds certain terrorist groups. The education is a fundamental factor that is going to determine certain situations and relevant facts on the country. These educational and social aspects require a thorough analysis of their evolution since the birth of Tunisia as a Republic.
