The Brazilian Army and its activity in the land border of Brazil (DIEEEO33-2018)

The Brazilian Border Strip occupies a prominent place in the Federal Constitution of 1988. It is defined as the one hundred and fifty kilometers wide strip along the land border, being considered fundamental for the defense of the national territory. Consistent with the Brazilian geographical configuration and historical events to date, the Brazilian Army is an active institution in this part of the national territory, collaborating with other governmental institutions of different areas and responsibilities. Thus, the article intends to characterize the Brazilian frontier space and present the possibilities of cooperation with its neighbors, especially in the military field. In addition, it intends to pave the way for an increase in the cooperative activity between the Brazilian Army and its corresponding South American neighbors, highlighting the activities that are already under way.
