Ibn Taymiyya: medieval theologian and recurrent element of jihadist terrorism.- Luis Antonio González Francisco.

Terrorism with a religious pretext, specifically that which adopts a distorted version of the Islamic faith, needs to show an image of being supported by solid ideological pillars for its consolidation. Its main theorists have emerged primarily in the 20th century and so far in the 21st. However, their primeval sources go deep in history and focus on the era of splendour and expansion of the Muslim religion. In this period one of the reference figures is Taqī ad-Dīn Ahmad ibn Taymiyya. Jihadism has made an interested interpretation with a current perspective of the complex visions of this medieval theologian which, although decontextualized, has effectively served its propaganda.
