New Brigade Intervention in the Democratic Republic of Congo: UN step in the Great Lakes (DIEEEI16-2013)

Approving the Resolution 2098, the Security Council of United Nations has decided to deploy a new intervention brigade in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Transfering offensive capabilities that exceed the legitimate self defense, the Security Council purpose is that the new force contribute to neutralize the M23 and other rebel armed groups which remain active in that country. It is the first time that a mission with these characteristics has been approved in the framework of United Nations.
