Ukraine: Revolution and Civil War. An alternative view of the crisis (DIEEEM19-2014)

The Ukrainian crisis, which started on November 2013 when former President Yanukovich refused to sign the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area agreement with the EU, has evolved until it became the most serious challenge for the European security since the end of Cold War. The weaknesses as State of that Slavic country, as well as the evident interferences of diverse external actors, have finally provoked an armed conflict with thousands of civilians dying, something that seemed unthinkable in our continent. In spite of the cease fire signed at the beginning of September, the situation is far from stabilized.
