Communal conflicts in Africa: Herders - Farmers (DIEEEA02-2017)

Although they may seem anachronistic, clashes between herders and farmers are very common in sub-Saharan Africa. As a result, more than 700 people have died in 2016, the majority in Nigeria. This article tries to describe the environment where these clashes take place, analyzing multiple causes for their origin, and circumstances that facilitate them. Moreover, some conflict resolution measures that States are developing and trying to apply are described.
