AQIM was born in January 2007 connected with Al Qaida. Its ideology is Jihadist-Salafist, and its will is to spread through the region. Complexity of the region is reflected in this terrorist group (including internal fragmentation, overlapping with illegal activities, inter-action with other groups and communities, etc) but the vitality of its terrorist dimension does concern. Instability in countries such as Tunisia, Libya or Mali does contribute to increase the threat posed by AQIM and other terrorist groups.
