Advance Africa and the International Community: Adoption of the strategic concept for resolution of the crisis in Mali (DIEEEA47-2012)

The International Community continues to seek consensus in order to approve a roadmap that will came up with a comprehensive resolution to the institutional and security crisis in Mali. After the approval of Resolution 2071 by the United Nations Security Council, on October 19, an international conference was held in Bamako to adopt a Strategic Concept that encompasses all the political and military measures aimed at the restoration of the constitutional order and stability in Mali.
In support of this African initiative led by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the International Community shows its resolve in contributing to the resolution of the conflict in Mali.In spite of this, the differences with regards to the way this international support materializes on the ground continue being considerable. In this area, the European Union has become a key actor to reach peace and stability in Mali and the whole of the Sahel region.
