Resolution 2085: Military Intervention in Mali in phases and conditions (DIEEEI77-2012)

On December 20, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted its Resolution 2085, which authorizes a military intervention in Mali. The prior aim of this African-led International Support Mission in Mali (AFISMA) is the formation of the military forces of Mali. Once achieved, and after a new Security Council authorization, will begin the offensive against the terrorists and the recovery of northern Mali. Despite the gravity of the situation, the United Nations does not provide for the deployment of the offensive operation before September 2013.
