Security, governance and development in Mali: Huge challenges for national reconstruction (DIEEEA15-2013)

In the framework of the Operation Serval, Mali and France forces have regained the control of the major enclaves in the North of the country. Now, main fighting against Islamist terrorists is focused on Ifoghas Mountains, near the border with Algeria. In the South, the African contingent of AFISMA is being completed, and the European mission (EUTM Mali) deployment has begun. For its part, the Transitional Government of Mali has presented a political roadmap to ensure the return of democracy and national reconstruction. Nevertheless, these efforts will be lost if security and good governance are not reached in Mali.
