CSDP through the Crisis Management Operations of the European Union: EUTM Mali (DIEEEO21-2014)

The establishment and deployment of so-called Crisis Management Operations of the European Union are the most obvious evidence of the EU’s interest to consolidate its role as a global player in the international peace and security field. The last deployed operation by the EU has been the EUTM Mali, a military mission whose purpose is to train Malian security forces. The development and its final results may determine if the EU is moving towards strengthening its position as an international player, and the remaining deficiencies to be overcome to achieve that goal.
