Côte d'Ivoire: the collapse of an African dream (DIEEEM21-2016)

This works aims to explain the events and the different faces that Côte d´Ivoire has gone through since its independence. The essay is divided in six parts for a clear understanding. The first part is an introduction, focusing mostly on what it was the birth of an independent republic. The second describes the initial challenges that the nation had to face until the end of the century. The third focuses on the overall institutional and social downfall and the first outbreaks of violence. The fourth part outlines the split and the stalemate that the country encountered during the first decade of the century. The fifth part describes the process that unleashed the deadlock. The sixth chapter analyzes the events that took place in a country that is the epicenter of West Africa.
