Terrorism in Sahel - West Africa: New tactics, new alliances, ... new strategy? (DIEEEA19-2017)

During these last years, the jihadist networks in the Sahel have been extending the range of action until arriving at attacks «out of zone» in Western Africa. In recent months, countries that theoretically had not been exposed to terrorism (Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire,...), have become targets. All these actions must be framed in the pulse that is being carried out between the two major terrorist jihadist organizations (AQIM and DAESH) and their affiliated groups. This article will try to highlight the tactical changes carried out in the main attacks that both organizations have been making, analysing the evolution in specific countries (Burkina Faso, Cameroon ...) and in which perhaps we can see a change of strategic orientation.
