No patrimony and Soul: The destruction of the historical and artistic patrimony in Syria (DIEEEO110-2013)

The destruction of archaeological, historical and artistic heritage within the borders of Syria created during the civil period is an issue that in recent times is becoming a serious look. So the list of places damaged by the fire destruction or organized plundering is rising this last summer.
The situation affects all types of historical places within the country. Worsening the situation, archaeological heritage formerly supported with American or European funds is being destroyed or stolen in the area called "liberated". Notably, some of the cases such as the looting of Tell Mardikh (the ancient settlement of Ebla), because military use, or Tell Afis and Tell Hamoukar (one of the first cities in the world 5700 years ago) are suffering irreparable destruction, a large place excavated by the University of Chicago until 2010. Not forgetting the looted museums are the order of the day.
