The ecocide: international crime? (DIEEEO128-2017)

The frequent massive hurts to the environment, with destruction or loss of ecosystems in a certain territory are increasingly frequent. The above mentioned hurts, in many occasions, put in risk the habitability of entire populations, on having damaged his crops or his waters. The need to punish these hurts has led to the international Community to trying to typify them as crime, and this way to anticipate, to prohibit and punish the same ones, even beyond the national borders.

In this context the term ecocide has arisen, understood as any massive hurt or environmental destruction of a territory, of such a magnitude that could put in danger the survival of their habitants. In this work we approach its possible criminalization as an international crime.
