Managing Information Technology in a large public organization: Who and How. Between tradition and innovation (DIEEEO114-2013)

The organizations growth, in both turnover and maturity, has followed a path parallel to increase their employment needs of the Information Technology (IT). But, often, corporate IT departments focus too much on the problems of technology and distance of the business issues of the entire organization, whether public or private. This raises the need to identify ways to lead the use of IT in alignment and integrated with business needs. Consequently, it is necessary that the business units recognize the transformative power of IT as an element of innovation that will help them advance in their operations and in their levels of effectiveness. To address this scenario it is necessary to identify and differentiate the roles and responsibilities involved; discriminate between the nature of IT management and corporate responsibility for IT governance; learn and adapt modern framewor and reference models for IT governance emerged from the experiences and knowledge of professionals and organizations worldwide. In this way, it will be possible that business and IT walk at a pace.
