A year has passed since the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) approved the requirements for the destruction of Syrian chemical weapons, and the process has not yet finished. Although the deadline was June 30, 2014, at present, about a 2% of weapons remain undestroyed and probably, the total destruction will not be completed until mid-2015. The process of Syrian chemical weapons destruction has turned out to be very complex, mainly for the necessity of moving this type of weapons in a territory undergoing a long armed conflict.
