Armed Forces: Polyvalent or specialized? (DIEEEA15-2014)

The adjustment to the new times is going to force the Armed Forces to carry out important transformations, as soon as the military operations in the Balkans, Iraq and Libya have concluded, that the military intervention in Afghanistan is close to conclude at the end of 2014, and that new theaters of operations are opened in other regions of the world. Therefore, it turns out indispensable to verify up to what extent our capabilities and military structures have been effective to solve the complex organizational and operative problems we have had to face in the conflicts of the past and up to what point they continue being so for current and future conflicts. The debate on the paper the Armed Forces must perform in the next years and on the specialized or polyvalent character that they must acquire in a time of economic restrictions and decreasing budgets, is opened.
