Movement and Transportation. Trends, Models, Evolution. Spain, and the movement and military transport (DIEEEO49-2014)

Cold War afterwards, western countries military forces employment concept development has evolved forcing them to reorganize forces and modify capabilities, in a continuous search for multipurpose units, able to deploy in far scenarios in a short period of time. It is a research process which main objective is the organization of military forces which, while being able to contribute to territorial collective defense, will be also ready for the contribution to an environment of enhanced security in remote areas where their national interests could be jeopardized. Nations with stronger Atlantic links have led this optimization process, strictly following the path set by USA. This evolution mainly aimed to enhance the forces deployability characteristics, is not only focused on its design, but also on its Movement and Transport resources and organization. Ranging from organizing Movement Coordination Centers, national or international, to the implementation of joint or combined Movement and Transport commands, the amount of different organization models arising does not help to easily spot in which stage the Spanish evolving process is. This article is an effort to try to show where Spain is and in which direction rows into the future of the military Movement and Transport.
