PSICUME & Cátedra ExtraordinariaComandante Sánchez-Gey (DIEEEO65-2015)

There are data that show the importance of the psychological impact from emergencies and disasters. Not only respect to affected people, but also for rescue teams. Therefore, it seems necessary to emphasize specific training of emergency teams, not only to provide them appropriate psychological tools to minimize the impact of catastrophe in victims, but also enabling them to promote their own emotional strengthening and coping in stressful situations. For this reason UME has launched, in collaboration with the UCM, a psychological training program for his own staff (PSICUME). This program will be articulated through the "Cátedra ExtraordinariaComandante Sánchez-Gey" with the aim of developing training activities, and promote the innovation in the field of psychosocial support in emergencies and disasters. This ambitious inter-institutional collaboration is a breakthrough in the field of disaster and emergency intervention.
