The international system and Armed Forces on the 2050 horizon (DIEEEO106-2017)

Possible deployment scenarios for the Western Armed Forces in the incoming decades will be conditioned by the stability of the International System. The new structure of this System aims towards an unbalanced multipolarity, where the USA will lose progressively its advantage with respect to its potential competitors.

The behavior of the Armed Forces is described in their Doctrine. This one is born out of the war experience, the arrival of new concepts, innovative technology, changes in the needs of their parent States and the dominant values of their societies.

The study of the possible evolution of these sources of doctrine in the general framework of the evolution of the International System may allow for some predictions on the type of operations and the effectiveness we can expect from the European Armed Forces.
