The attention of the international community has been recently been focused on an unprecedented fact: Syria’s accession to the 1993 Convention on Chemical Weapons. This rule represents a qualitative advance on the prohibition regime concerning chemical weapons. This paper analyzes the type of rules and principles which prohibits chemical weapons and their applicability on Syria. Furthermore we will focus in some possibilities to solve the Syrian crisis, in particular by the latest Security Council Resolution 2118.
