The US National Intelligence Council (NIC) envisages the end of U.S. global dominance and announces that the ’unipolar’ moment is over as some of global major trends for the next 30 years. The Afghanistan and Iraq wars, spending trillions of dollars, thousands of soldiers’ lives, and enormous political capital, combined with the recent economic downturn have grown the possibility of dominant decline for US. Notwithstanding, the National Intelligence Council report, Global Trends, ignores the Hobbesian logic of political survival that pushes states to maximize their power, therefore it implies a contest for supremacy between the United States and China that will claim the need for US global leadership.
