The role of Islam in Mali (DIEEEO116-2014)

As it is the case all along West Africa, several developments suggest that the role of Islam in Mali is increasing in society and politics, although it is not a consequence of the presence of jihadi terrorist organizations seeking to destabilize the Sahel. The importance of Islam in politics comes from long ago and deserves a careful analysis.
