Analysis document: Spain in EUFOR RCA

There are still many open wounds in the Central African Republic, and it will be very difficult to overcome the human suffering and destruction that this long and bloody conflict has caused. The country is still fractured into two, with former Seleka and Anti Balaka controlling their respective territories; with violence still present in Bangui; and the transitional government cannot generate the confidence to tackle an accurate reconciliation process. However, it is undeniable that the situation has improved since international forces arrived to the country. In the frame of European commitment with the Central African peace, the first Spanish contingent of EUFOR RCA has just completed its mission, recognizing its operational efficiency and human closeness as crucial to win the affection and respect of the population.
