The BRICS concept is surely a trendy one. It can be said that it has been the most successful acronym in the field of geopolitics through the last decade. The term has equally roused devotion and critics, and, although these critics are well-founded, the term, or rather the concept that it represents has become a part of our vocabulary and our geopolitical vision of the world. Does such concept really exist? Is the acronym a reflection of reality or is it rather just a discursive construction pursuing a reality? Finding an answer to these questions will be the main goal of this paper.
