After a civil war, devastating earthquakes and a marked international image of vulnerability, the adoption of a new constitution in Nepal has been greeted with rejection by the people of the southern Terai region. Serious incidents and blocking the entry of fuel from India have highlighted the serious problems this small country lodged between two Asian giants. The demands of representation and the new territorial delimitation have caused serious conflicts among the population. Madhesi region runs the risk of becoming a source of instability for Nepal and tip the balance in the region towards greater Chinese influence.
