Myanmar is in the midst of a process of political and economic change after 63 years under the Tatmadaw's rule, directly or indirectly. After a first try in the 90's, the Tatmadaw has managed to finish its roadmap towards a disciplined democracy that builds a political system that protects its interests. That's why it will continue to be an unavoidable actor in Myanmar's political life. The new civilian government that came out of the ballots is facing multiple challenges, reaching a peace agreement with the ethnic armed groups, raising the citizens' standard of living or avoiding communal clashes between confessions.
